These cute little crawlies are EVERYWHERE on single strands of web/silk and when I ride, they get all over me! Have to constantly pull the strands off as I ride ----- rather creepy!
Galveston RR Museum
Towering at the head of the Strand, the vast Railroad Museum boasts one of the largest restored railroad collections in the southwest, and one of the five largest in the country, with more then 20,000 railroad items, including more than 40 engines and cars. Saved from demolition by the Moody Foundation, this impressive Art Deco building was once the Union Passenger Depot. Now the waiting room is filled with life-size plaster models of “ghosts of travelers past” telling tales of their Victorian rail adventure when Galveston and its railroads were at the heart of Texas commerce.
As you walk in the front door from the Strand, to your left you will observe what was the Harvey House restaurant, to your right was the ticket booth, and straight ahead was the news stand and the doors to the concourses. The waiting room is now called the People's Gallery and is populated by Ghosts of Travelers Past. The full-sized figures in the gallery were made with plaster molds of real persons, and depict individuals who might have passed through the waiting room in 1932. The figures were created in 1981 by Elliot and Ivan Schwarz.
As this long day (and weekend) comes to an end, I keep returning to this picture . . . words do not express the joy that we are feeling and we are overwhelmed that we have been given the opportunity to assist our children in raising this wee one in the way he should go . . . they have blessed us indeed and we do not take that for granted.
Heritage and legacy are powerful things. What an honor we are all given when we are entrusted with another generation of precious children ----- when the legacy is passed on.
Sleep well child knowing you are loved and protected on every side. Rest dear daughter - you are amazing ------- deep thanks to you and your man for this miracle.
He's here! Our first grand arrived at 2:51 a.m. this morning . . . we are tired, but overjoyed.
I had a "feeling" around 7:00 that we should be on alert - contractions were about 10 minutes apart and getting harder - Jason was at work and would not be home until around midnight . . . she called at 10:20 when her water broke and we went and got her and took her to the hospital. She was already 5 and they did all their stuff to get her ready and she was 7-8 by 2:00 a.m. - they called the doctor and once she got there, the final phase proceeded ---- April pushed through two contractions and Dylan was here in all his melodic glory - Praise God! Jason, myself and Mary (April's mother-in-law) were honored to see him born. He was a pretty color (not that bright pink from having been engaged and pushed on for a long time) but a sweet soft pink ---- his head was not out of shape at all - and yep, he is handsome since he just popped right out! He cried immediately and we all cried with him . . .
I was snapping pics right and left (duh!) . . .
So, Dylan is 8 lbs. 10 1/2 ounces; 21 inches long and has BIG feet - we were all laughing at that - bald and big feet, just like his Uncle Bryan!!!!!! April had the wonderful joy juice and was able to be fully relaxed through transition and was as calm as could be when he arrived - she is SOOOO awesome (and so is Jason of course ---- he so did not like all the goings on, but we did convince him to cut the cord - he so did not want to!!!! They were having him hold one of her legs and he was like ---- huh????!!!!!!) - when they were checking Dylan out, he just held his hand and stroked it ----- hope that pic turns out . . . they will be incredible parents for sure. One of the first thing April said was "I can breathe now" ---- Dylan's legs are long and with those feet - that have been up in her ribs for the last few weeks - she has had great difficulty breathing and getting comfortable.
Anyway - Jason just called - he did get about 3 hours of sleep, but April did not get any . . . we are going to get ready and get back down there so Jason can come home and shower and take a nap for wife and baby duty tonight - and every night from now on! Pray that April gets some much needed sleep . . .
Peace to all - God is good - picture perfect labor and delivery! (and kudos to the staff at Tx Women's - one on one nursing, super kind, and major efficient . . .)
