Dylan Samuel Ockerman; 3-3-08 2:51 a.m.
He's here! Our first grand arrived at 2:51 a.m. this morning . . . we are tired, but overjoyed.
I had a "feeling" around 7:00 that we should be on alert - contractions were about 10 minutes apart and getting harder - Jason was at work and would not be home until around midnight . . . she called at 10:20 when her water broke and we went and got her and took her to the hospital. She was already 5 and they did all their stuff to get her ready and she was 7-8 by 2:00 a.m. - they called the doctor and once she got there, the final phase proceeded ---- April pushed through two contractions and Dylan was here in all his melodic glory - Praise God! Jason, myself and Mary (April's mother-in-law) were honored to see him born. He was a pretty color (not that bright pink from having been engaged and pushed on for a long time) but a sweet soft pink ---- his head was not out of shape at all - and yep, he is handsome since he just popped right out! He cried immediately and we all cried with him . . .
I was snapping pics right and left (duh!) . . .
So, Dylan is 8 lbs. 10 1/2 ounces; 21 inches long and has BIG feet - we were all laughing at that - bald and big feet, just like his Uncle Bryan!!!!!! April had the wonderful joy juice and was able to be fully relaxed through transition and was as calm as could be when he arrived - she is SOOOO awesome (and so is Jason of course ---- he so did not like all the goings on, but we did convince him to cut the cord - he so did not want to!!!! They were having him hold one of her legs and he was like ---- huh????!!!!!!) - when they were checking Dylan out, he just held his hand and stroked it ----- hope that pic turns out . . . they will be incredible parents for sure. One of the first thing April said was "I can breathe now" ---- Dylan's legs are long and with those feet - that have been up in her ribs for the last few weeks - she has had great difficulty breathing and getting comfortable.
Anyway - Jason just called - he did get about 3 hours of sleep, but April did not get any . . . we are going to get ready and get back down there so Jason can come home and shower and take a nap for wife and baby duty tonight - and every night from now on! Pray that April gets some much needed sleep . . .
Peace to all - God is good - picture perfect labor and delivery! (and kudos to the staff at Tx Women's - one on one nursing, super kind, and major efficient . . .)
